Peppermint oil is perfect in a dry shampoo because it helps to absorb excess oil while at the same time moisturizing the hair.
It also has a lovely fresh scent.
Tips and Tricks: Another great way to help prolong the time between shampooing is scalp massaging and brushing.
This helps to distribute the oils and sebum at your scalp/roots down the length of the hair shaft resulting in more time between washes and more conditioning for your hair!
Try to limit your use of dry shampoo to once a week. While it’s a great temporary hair freshen- er, overuse can clog the pores on your scalp.
Variations: Arrowroot powder and cornstarch are interchangeable in this recipe, and you can use whichever you have on hand.
You can customize this recipe to your hair color: for light/blonde hair, use only arrowroot/corn- starch. For brown hair, adjust arrowroot/cornstarch to cocoa powder ratio to match your hair color (i.e. less cocoa for light brown, more cocoa for dark brown).
For red hair, use cinnamon or beetroot powder.
How to Use: Apply to roots using a makeup brush. You want to get this on your roots, rather than focusing directly on your scalp to avoid build up on your skin.
It’s okay if some gets on there—obviously the roots and scalp are connected—just focus more on the roots. Allow it to sit for a few minutes to absorb the oils before brushing out.
